Pastor Enenche Faces Criticism After Woman Alleged To Have Given False Testimony Presents Evidence

Nigerians disagreed with Pastor Paul Enenche's condemnation of a memeer for giving a “fake” testimony.

Veronica Anyim, a member of Pastor Paul Enenche's Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja and a graduate of the National Open University of Nigeria's law department, has been exonerated of all charges following the senior pastor's suspicion that she had fabricated a testimony at the church.

The joyful moment turned tense when Enenche questioned her academic achievements during her testimony on Sunday at church.

Anyim utilized the platform to tell her story of self-actualization. She said that she had overcome her family's history of educational limitations by earning a law degree from the National Open University of Nigeria, or NOUN.

“I want to appreciate God for my life and my family, and I want to thank God for using mummy and daddy for our sake. It all happened when I was trying to attend the National Open University of Nigeria.

“Before I came to Dunamis, many things were happening in my life and my family; from my father's side and my mother's side, nobody was a graduate. They only ended up in primary or secondary school.

“But when God remembered me, I got a job, and I was working, and I decided to further my education; I started school, and I wanted to do a law programme. I started in 2014, and I never lacked the money to pay my school fees; I kept going to the extent that I got to my 500 level and challenges everywhere: problems, sickness, they afflict me with leg pain, and I was not able to finish my mate had finished, the law programme is six years, but since I was unable to meet up, I keep on like that. But yesterday, I graduated.”

Enenche's doubts about the veracity of the woman's tale, however, cut short her happiness. Enenche saw contradictions in her comprehension of her purported law degree and in the way she spoke. He became suspicious when Anyim mentioned that she had a BSc in law, and the pastor started to question her more.

She was accused of lying by Enenche.

“What kind of degree did you get?” he inquired. The woman said firmly, “MBBS is medicine,” adding that she has a BSc in law.

The preacher became even more enraged in return. Based on the way she spoke, he told her that she didn't sound like a law graduate. In addition, he insisted that she vacate the pulpit and informed her that a “BSc in Law” is unheard of.

Enenche advised the assembly once more about giving false testimony.

“The moment she talked about a law degree, I knew there is nothing like 'law' in what she was saying. No matter how bad it is, it hasn't reached that level. Is there any lawyer here with a BSc in Law? Lie testimony, come to stand on the altar to tell lies in the name of testimony. Anyone who dares that should do it at your detriment, the Lord killeth and maketh alive. Come to make it look like the word of God is fake. Or that what God is doing is not real? You do it to the detriment of yourself.”

On March 21, 2017, Anyim, whose full name is Anyim Veronica Nnenna and matric number is NOU133971176, paid the university's first e-facilitation, ICT, and library fees. That following day, she completed her registration for the semester. Additionally, on April 8, 2024, she paid the mandatory final clearing charge. Subsequent investigations unveiled that Anyim had remitted course registration payments for a number of courses, including but not limited to Law of Evidence, International Law and Diplomacy, Land Law 1 & 2, and Law of Taxation.

Anyim did graduate from the school, according to a NOUN source who yearned for secrecy, and her name was on the 2024 graduation list.

The insider insisted that it was feasible for the woman to graduate in 2024, around eight years after the program was halted.

“It is possible. She probably had waited some years to get herself together for the programme. Or deferred for other purposes.”

He emphasized further that some participants in their program have been there for around ten years because they are preoccupied with job or other commitments. Additionally, he stated that the procedure for delaying admittance to the school is straightforward, giving the example of how a shortage of funding results in suspension programs.
