NECO postpones NCEE Over Low Registration For The Fourth Time Since 2021
THE National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission to federal unity colleges and the federal government academy in Suleja, Abuja, has been rescheduled by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
NECO declared on January 15 that NCEE registration is now open for this year.
The exam body announced that the exam will take place on April 20 and that the registration price is N4,750.
Now, the NCEE will not take place until June 1, 2024.
The entrance exam for gifted and talented students at Federal Government Academy, Suleja, which was originally scheduled for May 4, 2024, will now take place on May 25, 2024, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Azeez Sani, the interim director of NECO digital communication.
Sani disclosed that the reason behind the postponing of the two exams was the low candidate enrolment.
He also requested that applicants, guardians, parents, schools, and other pertinent parties remember the new dates.
“The rescheduling of the two examinations was due to low enrolment of candidates,” the statement reads.
“All candidates, parents, guardians, schools and relevant stakeholders are therefore enjoined to take note of the new dates for the examinations.
“The registration of candidates will continue till the new dates for the examinations.”
Since 2021, the exam council has postponed its yearly exam four times. This time is no different.
NECO moved the date of the common entrance exam from May 29 to June 5, 2021, so that states with low candidate registration might accept more applications.
The 2022 NCEE was rescheduled by the test authority from April 23 to May 7 due to insufficient registration.
In 2023, the poor turnout also led the council to prolong the registration time by more than a month.
