Oba Elegushi denies growing speculation that he is late Mohbad's son's father

Oba Saheed Elegushi, the Elegushi of the Ikate Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State, has denied rumors that he is the father of the late singer Liam Aloba, as the controversy surrounding the death of the late singer, llerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad, and the paternity of his son continues to grow.

Through his media consultant, Deyemi Saka, the monarch explained that some social media users' claims that he might have fathered the late singer's son were a desperate attempt to damage his name by drawing him into Liam's paternity.

Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 in September 2023, with his demise sparking widespread protests in some parts of the country, and many of his fans demanding justice for the former Marlian Records signee.

Following his passing, a plethora of charges and denials have surfaced, with the majority claiming that the bullying he had experienced from his former boss, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and his accomplices, was the reason behind his death.

Moreover, Mohbad's son's paternity has come under investigation, especially after Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, demanded a paternity test to determine whether the deceased singer was, in fact, the grandfather of his grandchild.

The claim that Oba Elegushi might have been the father of Mohbad's son was one of the responses to the paternity dispute.

Our correspondent saw multiple posts made by Oloriebimusicproduction2, a TikToker, on his profile suggesting that the king could have been involved in the passing of the late Mohbad.

There were also allegations that the late singer's justice was being obstructed by the monarch using his power.

The monarch responded to these several claims by stating that they were unfounded and intended to damage his reputation.

The 49-year-old king also revealed that someone has filed a petition to stop people from spreading these claims.

“We would like to respond to a new desperate attempt at dragging His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Elegushi, into the needless paternity dispute over the son of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad,” a statement he signed read.

“The widely syndicated falsehood was promoted by some persons with the underlisted profile on the social media app TikTok, namely: Oloriebimusicproduction2, PEKINS RULES, and WESTO4LIVE. Also, the same falsehood is being promoted by Auto Success Ola, Olubukola Jesse, Teni Ologo, and Tolani llesanmi.

“This is to inform the public that the allegation is false and a figment of the wicked imaginations of these persons.

“HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, through his lawyers, has filed a petition against these persons with the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies in a bid to enforce his fundamental human rights and protect him from cyber bullies, while he is hopeful the Nigeria Police will collaborate with relevant international security organisations in this quest for redress.”

Oba Elegushi asked the public to refrain from involving the traditional institution in the paternity controversy, even as he offered his sympathies to the singer's family.

“It must be stated emphatically that Oba Elegushi, just like many Nigerians, is saddened by the sudden demise of Mohbad, and demands a thorough investigation and a quick dispensation of justice.

“While we pray to Almighty God to grant the Alobas the immense strength to bear this painful loss, we urge people to refrain from dragging the integrity of His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Elegushi and the revered traditional institution he represents into public disrepute,” the statement noted.
