Kano Court Affirms Ganduje's APC Suspension

ABDULLAHI Ganduje has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Kano State High Court.

In addition to issuing an ex parte decision, the court barred Abdullahi Ganduje, the party's national chair, from continuing to represent himself as an APC member.

Ganduje was suspended by APC leaders in Dawakin ward, Tofa LGA, Kano, on April 15, due to allegations of corruption.

However, the APC's Kano working committee later overturned the ban and disciplined the ward officials.

Ganduje was ordered by the court to stop leading the national working committee (NWC) of the APC in all of its functions going forward.

Judge Usman Na'abba approved the application on Tuesday in response to an ex parte request made by Ibrahim Sa'ad on behalf of the APC executive members in Ganduje's ward.

The court ordered the respondents to continue as they were while the substantive suit is heard and decided on April 30.

Na'abba also put an end to the APC's state working committee in Kano. “from interfering with the legally and validly considered decision of executives of Ganduje's ward, essentially on action endorsed by two third majority of the executives as provided by the party constitution.”

“An order is hereby granted directing all parties in the suit APC (1st), APC National Working Committee (2nd), Kano State Working Committee APC (3rd), Dr. Abdullah Umar Ganduje (4th), to maintain status quo ante belum as of 15th April, 2024,” Na'abba said.

Ganduje, the state's governor from 2015 to 2023, was the subject of new allegations, according to a statement made on Tuesday by the Kano anti-corruption commission.

“The order thereby restraining the 1st respondent (APC) from recognising the 4th respondent (Ganduje) as member of APC and prohibiting the 4th respondent (Ganduje) from presiding over any affairs of the NWC and restraining the state working committee from interfering with the legally and valid decision of the ward executives of Ganduje ward.

“That the 4th respondent (Ganduje) is prohibited from parading himself as member of APC or doing any act that may portray him or seem to be a member of APC pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”
