A committee to look into the state's finances under the immediate past governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been appointed by the Kaduna house of assembly.

The committee's job is to examine grants, loans, and project execution from 2015 to 2023, which is the time frame during which El-Rufai was governor.

Zacharia stated that the purpose of the eight-member fact-finding committee's establishment during Tuesday's plenary was “to find out the financial dealings of the state under the former governor.”

The governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani, stated on March 30 that the el-Rufai administration left his administration with 115 contractual commitments, N85 billion in debt, and $587 million in debt.

Sani said that he hasn't borrowed “a kobo in the last nine months” when speaking at a town hall meeting.

However, he said that the state's portion of the monthly federation allotment is being severely reduced by the massive debt load.
