Junior Pope's Funeral Arrangements Announced By His Family

The funeral plans for their late son, John Odonwodo, well known as Junior Pope, have been made public by the family of the late Nollywood star.

The 43-year-old actor will be laid to rest on May 17, 2024, in Nsukka, Igboetiti Local Government Area, Enugu, in his birthplace of Uwala Abaka, Ukehe.

On April 10, Junior Pope and four other people died in the River Niger after their boat capsized while they were returning from a filming location.

The burial arrangements started on April 23 with a requiem mass at Saint John-Mary Vianney Parish, Asaba, Delta, according to a funeral notice signed by Divine Odonwodo on behalf of the family.

According to a funeral statement signed by Divine Odonwodo on behalf of the family, a requiem service was held at Saint John-Mary Vianney Parish in Asaba, Delta, on April 23 to kick off the burial plans.

It was mentioned that Christ the King Catholic Church will host another memorial mass.

“On May 16, the wake will be held at his country home, Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, in Nsukka, Igboetiti, LGA of Enugu State, and his interment will be done immediately after the burial mass at St. Peter's Parish, Ukehe, on May 17.

“A final thanksgiving mass will be held on Sunday, May 19 at St. Peter's Parish Ukehe Nsukka, Igboetiti LGA, Enugu,” it added.

It further mentioned that on May 13, a second requiem liturgy would take place at Christ the King Catholic Parish, G.R.A., Enugu.
