Fire Destroys 40 rooms Building Destroyed In Kwara
THE fire that broke out in a 40-room apartment building in Ilorin, Kwara State, early on Friday, April 26, was caused by an unattended charcoal fire that started on Thursday, April 26.
According to reports, the early Friday morning consumed nine of the forty rooms.
A nearby homeowner named Mallam Abdulkadir has disclosed that the watchful guard discovered the fire at 2:30 in the morning and swiftly notified the residents.
Adekunle verified that while there were thankfully no fatalities in the fire, a considerable amount of valuables were destroyed, including furniture, clothes, electronics, building supplies, and private records.
The State Fire Service's Director, Prince Falade John, was obviously touched by the situation and offered his condolences to the victims.
“This tragic event underscores the crucial need for fire safety and awareness,” Falade said.
“The Fire Service received a distress call at about 3.00 am on Friday that a raging fire had engulfed a compound at No. E143, Ile Muse, off Emir's Road, Ilorin.
“The fire had already burned 9 rooms completely before the crew got there but the firemen sprang into action, racing against time to save lives and property.
“Upon arrival, the firefighters were met with a daunting challenge. But with their training, skill, and unwavering dedication, they battled the blaze with unrelenting fury. The fire was finally brought under control at 03:42 hours, a testament to the crew's unyielding spirit and professionalism.”
