Film Producers Commence Investigation Into Junior Pope's Death, Suspend Adanma Luke.
ADANMA Luke, the producer of the upcoming film that was supposed to star the late actor Junior Pope, has been suspended by the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).
Pope passed away on April 10 following his fall into the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state, while en route to a filming location.
When the incident happened, the movie star was with other members of the team.
The national president of AMP, Blessing Ebigieson, also revealed in a statement on Monday that a committee has been formed to look into the matter.
The nine-member committee will look into the circumstances surrounding Pope's and the other victims' deaths, according to AMP.
Luke was advised to “suspend all work pending the submission of the investigations report and the final decision is taken,” according to the statement.
AMP expressed its condolences to the families of those who perished in the boat accident.
“The news of the boat mishap got to us as a rude shock without comprehension,” the statement reads.
“Following this tragic incident, AMP has set up a nine-man committee to investigate all activities that led to the death of these practitioners on the set of the movie, Another side of Life!
“Meanwhile, the producer, Adamma Luke, is hereby advised to suspend all work pending on the submission of the investigations report, and the final decision is taken.
“As we mourn our fellow filmmakers, we ask for calm from all sectors, stakeholders, and the public.”
