AS a further national holiday to commemorate Eid-El-Fitr, the federal government has set aside Thursday, April 11.

This was announced by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, in a signed statement posted on the ministry's X account on Tuesday, April 9.

It stated in the statement, “The Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 11, 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year's Eid-El-Fitr.

“The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.”

According to Saudi Arabia, the Shawwal crescent has not been seen as of Monday, April 8, meaning that the fast will continue the following day.

It further mentioned that on Wednesday, April 10, the Islamic new month will begin with the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr.

The Federal Government had earlier on Sunday announced Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, to be public holidays in honor of the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
