Ebonyi Govt Lowers State University Tuition, Boosts Employee Pay, Provides Subsidies
THE Ebonyi State University's tuition has been reduced by 10% by Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
Nwifuru also gave his approval to a 20% and 10% pay increase for the state-owned institution's academic and non-academic workers, respectively.
Nwifuru further declared that state natives graduating with first-class degrees would be eligible for automatic employment as graduate assistant professors.
The governor continued by saying that in an effort to improve employee morale and broaden access to education in the state, he had boosted the university's monthly subvention from N200 million to N280 million.
The governor stated this, at the university's combined convocation event, which took place from June 12 to June 15.
Nwifuru, in his speech, described the event as an additional chance to “reflect, deploy skills and make meaningful contributions” to the development of the state and the country at large.
The governor advised the graduating students to use domestically produced solutions to domestically produced challenges before turning to outside help.
He requested that they apply the knowledge they had learned in college to address issues facing the nation.
“You have acquired skills to keep you afloat, not to sink. Having undergone intellectual rigours, you are now equipped with survival skills and ready to solve the problems in the country. May I urge you to be good progressive ambassadors,” he said.
