Time Magazine has listed singer Damini Ogulu, often known as Burna Boy, among the top 100 significant persons of 2024.

The yearly list published by Time Magazine honors people who, via their accomplishments in a variety of professions, have had a profound impact on the world.

Individuals are grouped into six notable categories on the list: Titans, Innovators, Pioneers, Artistes, Leaders, and Icons.

Time's website featured a tribute to Burna Boy by the great singer Angelique Kidjo, earning him the label of “Icon.”

She called him “history in the making” and said that his distinct style and tone enthrall audiences everywhere.

“Burna Boy's deeply original flow and his signature groove have conquered the world with an impressive series of firsts: in 2023, he became the first African artist to sell out a U.S. stadium, and in 2024, he became the first Afrobeats artist to sing at the Grammys,” she wrote.

“He is history in the making. Now a whole generation of young people from the continent is looking up to him.”

The singer has cemented his place as one of the top African artists with a slew of honors and recognitions.
