Attackers Target Katsina Village And Kidnap 30 Children
It is believed that at least thirty children have been abducted from the Kasai hamlet in Katsina State's Batsari Local Government Area by suspected militants.
The incident happened on Monday, April 1, and it has greatly disturbed the locals.
Information surfaced indicating that Batsari is one of the Katsina state's Security Frontline Local Government Areas, where terrorist and other criminal activity has been increasing practically every day.
Neither government representatives nor security organizations have made any announcements about the kidnapping as of the time of reporting.
A resident claims that on Monday, April 1, the children were
attacked.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the state's Police Public Relations Officer, has not yet replied to questions about the incident.
This most recent kidnapping follows a similar event that occurred in Kaduna on Thursday, March 7, when attackers stormed the Local Government Education Authority Primary and Secondary School in Kuriga village, Chikun LGA, kidnapping around 200 students and a teacher.
The attackers abducted the victims, who ranged in age from eight to fifteen, after they had plundered the school during assembly.
According to an official speaking on condition of anonymity, the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs is working to ascertain the specifics of the attack and the number of victims kidnapped.
This episode adds to the history of kidnappings in the area, which also includes the attack on Damishi, Kaduna's Bethel Baptist High School in July 2021 and the kidnapping of ten students from the Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia LGA in Kaduna state in April 2023.
