APC Objects To The Reported Intention For Impeached Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu To Re-join Party
LOCAL government members in Edo State's Etsako West have protested against the supposed plot for Philip Shaibu, the state's impeached deputy governor, to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that on Monday, April 8, the Edo State House of Assembly impeached Shaibu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stoking rumors that he will join the APC.
APC party members from each of the 12 wards in his local government marched with a variety of placards to the party secretariat to present a petition objecting to Shaibu's purported re-admission into the party.
Speaking on behalf of the party's stakeholders, Yakubu Musa emphasized that Shaibu's 2020 departure from the APC had brought peace and tranquillity to the organization. He then pleaded with Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the State Acting Chairman, Jaret Tenebe, and the party's National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to stop Shaibu from making any attempt to rejoin the APC.
Shaibu's chief press secretary, Musa Ebomhiana, responded by claiming that certain people were funding the protest in order to make him look bad.
“It was part of the grand plan designed by some individuals to embarrass Shaibu, but it can't deter him from wherever he is going. Nobody owns the party.”
Ebomhiana asserts that everyone in Nigeria is a part of the APC and that no one has the right to stop someone from joining a political party.
