10 People Lost Their Lives In A Malaysian Training Exercise Chopper Crash
ON Tuesday, April 23, a collision between two helicopters occurred during a training exercise, resulting in the deaths of ten Malaysian military personnel.
The country's fire and rescue department's senior operations commander, Suhaimy Mohamad Suhail, acknowledged that the crash happened in midair during flight training exercises.
The helicopters were practicing a flypast above the Lumut Naval Stadium in preparation for the navy fleet's approaching open day celebrations in May when the tragedy occurred.
The AgustaWestland AW139 and the Eurocopter AS5555N Fennec were the helicopters involved in the collision.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sent his deep sadness and sincere sympathies to the victims' families upon hearing of the incident.
He promised that the Ministry of Defense would launch an investigation right once to find out what caused the incident, with special attention paid to the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM).
This brings to mind incidents involving helicopters that occurred recently in Malaysia, such as one in 2016 that claimed the life of a deputy minister when a Eurocopter AS350 crashed in the state of Sarawak.
Kenya, on the other hand, saw the crash of a military chopper transporting top officials, including the head of defense.
President William Ruto called an urgent meeting of the National Security Council in response to the incident that took place in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
President Ruto tragically acknowledged in a later update that General Francis Omondi Ogolla and nine other senior military personnel had perished in the Kenyan chopper crash.
He disclosed that the catastrophe had only left two people alive.
