Victor Osimhen Loves Chelsea — Mikel Obi [VIDEO]
Mikel Obi, a former Nigerian international, has promised Chelsea supporters that he will stop at nothing to persuade Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles to sign with the Blues this summer.
Remember that Osimhen was a key player in the team's victory last season as they won their first league title in 33 years and finished as Serie A top scorer with 26 goals. Osimhen moved to Napoli in 2020 for a club-record 70 million euros ($76 million), potentially rising to 80 million euros with add-ons.
Though it looks he may still leave Naples if elite European teams are willing to pay his release clause, he signed a contract extension last month that extends until June 2026.
However, Mikel said at a Web Summit in Qatar that he wants Osimhen to be a part of the group of Nigerian players who have worn the Blues jersey.
“I think there's genuine interest between both (Chelsea and Osimhen).
“I think he loves the club, he wants to come to the club, obviously he wants to follow in my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea, like Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, there's not a lot of us.
“But he also has a lot of interest, like PSG, Man United, but I'm still pushing, sending him messages, trying to make sure he doesn't expect too much, just narrow your mind on one club: The Blues!”
