Remi Tinubu Donated N1 Billion For Renewed Hope Initiative To Combat Tuberculosis
Nigeria aims to eradicate tuberculosis by 2023, and the Renewed Hope Initiative, or RHI, has contributed N1 billion toward this goal.
Following her investiture as the Global and National Stop TB Champion, the donation was given on Thursday, March 28 in Abuja through First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
Similarly, the 36 state governors' spouses received recognition during the ceremony as State Stop TB advocates.
The First Lady, Remi Tinubu claims that the investiture is a call to action, but she also emphasizes that everyone's participation is necessary for the plague to be eradicated.
The Global Stop TB Partnership Geneva, the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, the World Health Organization, WHO, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria, GFTAM, all pledged to continue supporting Nigeria in achieving the objective.
A bacterial infection that mostly affects the lungs, tuberculosis has the potential to be quite dangerous.
When an infected individual coughs or sneezes, the germs that cause tuberculosis are dispersed.
The majority of persons who have been exposed to the tuberculosis-causing germs are asymptomatic. When they do appear, the typical symptoms are fever, weight loss, night sweats, and coughing (occasionally blood-tinged).
While patients with active symptoms will need a lengthy course of treatment containing numerous antibiotics, those without symptoms may not always need treatment.
