President Bola Tinubu expressed grief on Sunday over the passing of two seasoned Nollywood actors: Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, better known as Sisi Quadri, and John Okafor, better known as Mr. Ibu.

The president referred to the performers as geniuses who, via their work, had relieved and cheered millions of Nigerians.

He advised those grieving to “take solace in the truth that even though these beloved Nigerians have passed on, they will always live through their works which will remain an inspiration and a fount of good cheer for many.”

Moreover, he expressed his condolences to the Actors Guild of Nigeria, the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), and the whole creative community, promising them his support, prayers, and thoughts during this difficult time.

Sisi Quadri passed away on Friday at the Ogbomoso general hospital, where he was being treated for an unidentified illness. His passing occurs on the same day as the release of Anikulapo: Rise of the Specter, his most recent film in which he portrayed one of the three ghosts in the mysterious epic series helmed by Kunle Afolayan.

Mr. Ibu was taken to Evercare hospital in Lagos on Saturday following a relapse approximately a week prior, where he passed away from cardiac arrest.
