Pres. Tinubu, Peter Obi, Patti awards a N250 million scholarship to Kano Keke, a rider who returned missing N15 million, among others.

Awwalu Salisu, a 23-year-old commercial tricyclist from Kano who returned N15 million in cash that a Chadian businessman had left in his tricycle in 2023, has been offered a scholarship worth N250 million to pursue higher education up to the PhD level.

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, became the first to offer Awwalu scholarships at the Baze University in Abuja, up to the PhD level, during an event in Abuja on Tuesday, March 5.

The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, responded jokingly, saying that the Labour Party could not possibly overshadow the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bago consequently announced a N250m scholarship award to Awwalu to appreciate his act of honesty and to encourage other young Nigerians to imbibe the virtue.

According to him, each Awwalu will receive a N50 million scholarship from the Niger State government, President Bola Tinubu, his ministers, the APC Governors Forum, and himself.

Bago continued by saying he would give the Kano Keke rider's name to one of the road projects he was working on in Niger State.
