Onyema Cautions NFF Not To Bring In Foreign Coach For Super Eagles
Allen Onyema, the CEO of Airpeace, has taken aim at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing a foreign coach to lead the national team
Jose Peseiro's contract with the Super Eagles expired in February, so they are currently without a permanent handler.
Finidi George, a former international, has been appointed the team's temporary manager for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali during the international break.
Super Eagles fan Onyema has now cautioned the NFF against selecting a foreign coach over a local applicant.
“I don't see why we cannot look into the country and get somebody out there that will take on the Super Eagles,” he said to City People Online. In my opinion, Eguavoen achieved some degree of success.
“A lot of them succeeded. The truth is that when a foreign coach bows out of the group stage, nobody talks; when a Nigerian coach bows out from Quarterfinals or semi-finals, oh, if it had been a foreign coach, we would have won the cup.
“Nobody gives Nigerian coaches a chance. Nigerians should rise up against any NFF that goes again to get any idiot as a foreign coach.”
