Outbreak: London Building Fire Accident Left 11 People Hospitalized
Fire officials said that a massive fire that broke out in the early hours of Friday morning at a residential building in the affluent South Kensington neighborhood of London sent 11 people to the hospital and forced about 130 others to flee.
Around 100 firefighters and fifteen fire engines were dispatched to the scene of the fire at a terraced house near the Natural History Museum on Emperor's Gate, southwest of the British capital, that had been turned into apartments.
The London Fire Brigade reported on X, formerly Twitter, that when they arrived, half of the ground floor of the five-story building was on fire.
“The fire has spread from the ground floor to the top floor and roof. Crews are working hard to... stop it spreading to adjacent buildings,” said Station Commander Steve Collins, who was at the scene.
About 130 residents were evacuated from the property and nearby buildings, and five people were saved with the use of ladders.
The fire service continued, “Around 11 people have been treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital.”
