Dessers Makes A Quiet Allusion To Former Coach Peseiro

Nigeria's senior national team faced Ghana in an international friendly in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, marking their first match since placing second in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Jordan Ayew's strike from the penalty spot turned out to be merely a consolation as Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 thanks to goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman.

It was the first game that interim coach Finidi George led the squad in after Jose Peseiro left after his contract expired last month.

“Before the game we had a meeting and he wanted us to press more aggressive and I think we did it especially in the first half, we did it very very good then you see we got chances out of this and it gives confidence to the team that we can attack more, create more chances and that is a good thing and I think this is the way Super Eagles should play,” he explained at the post match presser.

When questioned about the differences he saw between the two managers' styles of play after the game, Dessers praised the interim coach's aggressive strategy, which stands in stark contrast to the defensive manner they used during the AFCON under Peseiro.
