Delta Killings: We'll Help Law Enforcement Find The Offenders — Delta Monarchs

The Delta's traditional rulers have promised to help law enforcement find those responsible for the deaths of 17 Nigerian Army soldiers and officers in the Okuama village in the State.

Emerging from a state council of traditional rulers meeting in Asaba, the monarchs strongly condemned what they described as an unwarranted and savage attack by the Okuama Community that resulted in the officers' deaths.

The Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe, Major-General Felix Mujakpuero (Rtd), Orhue 1, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers, the Nigerian Army, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a 5-point communiqué released following the meeting. They also prayed to God for eternal rest for the officers' souls.

The royal fathers demanded that the State Government form an impartial investigating team to determine the cause—both local and distant—of the communal conflict between the Okuama and Okoloba Communities.

They also urged the Nigerian Army to search for the people responsible for the heinous murder of the brave officers in accordance with international best standards.

They also urged the public to refrain from spreading lies and unsupported assertions, as this could worsen the already precarious situation of peace in the region. The monarchs were informed on the security situation between Okoloba community in Bomadi Local Government Area and Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who attended the meeting.

Among those present at the meeting were Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, the immediate past chairman of the Council and Obi of Owa; SP Luke Kalanama V111, the first vice chairman; and Agbogodi Henry Kikachukwu 1, the Obi of Ubulu - Unor.
