Alex Iwobi responds to critics in a new song and returns to social media.

Iwobi has returned to social media following a brief hiatus caused by cyberbullying from Nigerians.

Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Nigerian Super Eagles, has bravely returned to social media, ending a three-week hiatus brought on by a torrent of cyberbullying that followed the AFCON 2023 final.

Iwobi was the target of angry Nigerians who expressed displeasure with his performance in the tournament's championship game, which took place on February 11, 2024.

Iwobi came under fire from supporters and football aficionados who felt that his on-field performance fell short of expectations and contributed to the team's loss after Nigeria lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast, ending their hopes of winning the championship.

The star player for the Super Eagles' bad performances have been attributed by some fans to his social media posts on his Instagram page.

The fans took issue with Iwobi, 27, claiming in his since-deleted Instagram posts that he was too busy clubbing and enjoying a variety of enjoyable activities during the tournament.

The Fulham midfielder removed all visual content from his Instagram account on February 12, 2024, in order to protect himself from online abuse.

He received assistance from his teammates, the Nigeria Football Federation, and the Sports Ministry in spite of the hardship.

Iwobi's maternal uncle, football legend Jay-Jay Okocha, also came out in support of the midfield player, denouncing those who had targeted the British-born player.

Though Okocha's influence was crucial to Iwobi's career, the two have a relationship that goes beyond the football field.

Iwobi is back on social media, and he posted a video to Instagram to give fans a peek of what he has been up to.

Iwobi described his path in both his career and personal life in his most recent song.

The lyrics read in part: “Never fall 1 make It, now when I step in they all recognising my face; invitation, I have been going different places, running on my own, I have pinned down other races. Expressive on my socials, I couldn't give a damn if they treat me like a disposal. Setbacks in the past, there is so much I could show you. Everything was worth it; now look at me. I am global.”

Teammates William Troost-Ekong, Frank Onyeka, and Kenneth Omeruo all left encouraging comments on the post.
