Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reactions To Rumors Replacing Daniel Craig's Position As James Bond
The actor seems to be putting speculations behind him.
Reportedly, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will not be the next James Bond, he has said.
The Tenet actor made news on Tuesday, March 19, when it was revealed that the franchise producers had made a “formal offer” for him to take Daniel Craig's role as 007 and were waiting for his reaction.
The 33-year-old Taylor-Johnson was first linked to the part in January 2023, following a rumor that producer Barbara Broccoli was impressed by the actor during a screen test. The actor's credits include Kick-Ass, Bullet Train, and Nowhere Boy.
Seven months after clumsily sidestepping questions on the rumors, he has now made another attempt to downplay the idea that he will portray the British spy in an interview that was done prior to the purported offer being made.
Taylor-Johnson, who is promoting Sony's Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter, stated in a recent interview with Rolling Stone UK: “I can only really talk about the things I'm going to show and tell.
“Thus, Kraven the Hunter, Nosferatu, and The Fall Guy. I don't think I need to have a predetermined future. Whatever is planned for me, I think I can f***ing do better.”
He responded, according to the outlet, “with a wry smile.”
He further muddied the notion that he might play James Bond in other parts of the interview, stating that he “doesn't necessarily want... doing one action movie after another” as his “brand.”
A source told the outlet: “Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
