Serie A: Osimhen Returns To Double Figures in Serie A With A Hat-trick
Napoli thrash Sassuolo, and hat-trick hero Osimhen equals Maradona's record
Victor Osimhen bagged a hat-trick as Napoli hammered Sassuolo 6-1 in the Serie A on Wednesday.
Napoli defeated Sassuolo 6-1 on Wednesday in an exciting Serie A match that saw Victor Osimhen steal the show with a hat-trick.
Osimhen has scored goals for Napoli once more since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he only managed one goal.
A well-executed move involving Matteo Politano and Di Lorenzo ended with the Nigerian forward scoring his first goal of his three-goal run from close range in the 31st minute.
After ten minutes, he finished with a brace, showing his speed and poise to get past the offside trap and chip the ball past the goalkeeper.
A defensive blunder by Ruan Tressoldi of Sassuolo gave the ball to Kvaratskhelia, who kindly squared it for the Nigerian to tap in, allowing Osimhen to complete his hat-trick in the second half.
This display solidified Osimhen's legacy at Napoli. He joined the great Diego Maradona (1984/85-1987/88) and Attila Sallustro (1929/30-1932/33) as the only players in the club's history to score at least 10 goals in four straight Serie A seasons.

Twelve minutes after Sassuolo's unexpected 17th-minute lead thanks to Uros Racic, Napoli responded with an equalizer through Amir Rrahmani.
Napoli's attack was further strengthened in the second half by Kvaratskhelia, who added a brace of his own in the 51st and 75th minutes.
Even though both teams made substitutions in the last minutes, Napoli's performance was still the main attraction.
