In the midst of frustration over rising living expenses in Nigeria, Tinubu returns from France

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria from his private visit to Paris, France, where he spent 13 days.

Leading government figures greeted the president on Tuesday night at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, after he left on January 24.

A spokesperson for President Tinubu said in a statement that he was on a private visit to France, but the statement gave no information about the reason for the visit.

His return to the nation coincides with growing anxiety over living expenses, stoked by demonstrations in certain states.

Opposition parties, sociocultural groups, and civil society organizations have also voiced their dissatisfaction with his absence, particularly in light of the rising number of kidnapping cases and other security issues in Nigeria.
