Over 50 Influencers Laundering Interior Minister, Tunji Ojo's Image Online
According to FIJ (Foundation for investigative Journalism) Over 50 'Influencers' were contracted to launder the Interior.
The Interior Minister's social media persona was purportedly manipulated by hiring over fifty “Influencers,” according to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).
It wasn't until the first week of January that Tunji-Ojo's personal company, which he founded, became the subject of a contract scandal that damaged his reputation in the media.
On January 7, it was revealed that Betta Edu, the troubled suspended minister at the time, headed the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, from which Tunji-0jo's New Planet Project Limited had received a consulting project. After the scandal, he went through his files and discovered a filing from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) indicating that he had resigned as a director of the company in 2019.
However, the CAC had neglected to update its public portal with this information. He is still a shareholder in the company, though.
According to FIJ's latest findings, Tunji-Ojo employs a network of hired influencers under supervision to carry out a well-managed social media campaign, with a focus on X.
Similar to Beta Edu, the revelation sparked calls for his suspension and investigation, but a horde of social media influencers and some self-described civil society groups—which had no online presence until the scandal—quickly queried these demands.
