Nigeria Will Become Net-exporter Of Food — President Tinubu
Nigeria will start exporting food on a net basis, according to the president
Amidst growing poverty and hunger in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu declared that his administration would exert every effort to increase food production and turn a profit.
This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday by Ajuri Ngelale, the President's Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, following a visit to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja by a delegation of the Global Tijaniyya Movement, headed by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass.
The president declared that his administration would modernize agriculture in order to produce and export enough food for Nigeria to become self-sufficient. The President further declared that his administration would back initiatives and plans aimed at providing comfort and support to Hajj travelers.
The President presented plans to increase agricultural productivity through a number of initiatives, such as increasing the amount of farmland, giving farmers low-interest loans, and making large investments in irrigation infrastructure.
“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.
“Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanisation. We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding,” he said.
The president thanked the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their prayers and encouragement for the country. He emphasized that fostering national unity requires cooperation between religious and political leaders.
