The city of Aba will have a 24-hour power supply from the geometric power plant. The power plant in Abia state will supply electricity to nine local governments in total.
Turbine 3 was turned on at 3.39 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, in preparation for President Bola Tinubu's planned commissioning of the Geometric Power plant in Aba tomorrow.
The engineers at Geometric Power and their international colleagues erupted in jubilation at this. Ikechukwu Monday, the Commissioner of Power and Public Utilities for Abia State, joined them.
According to a statement released by the company's management just now, the 181 megawatt Geometric Power plant located in the Osisioma Industrial Layout of Aba in Abia State will be put into service on Monday, February 26, 2024.
President Bola Tinubu was supposed to inaugurate the plant on Saturday, February 24.
The Presidency in Abuja selected the new date in response to what insiders called unexpected developments.
Aba Power Ltd., which will use the 188-MW thermal plant to supply electricity to nine of the state's seventeen local government units, will also be commissioned by the president.
Geometric Power, which has invested approximately $800 million in its integrated power project—dubbed the largest investment in the Southeast—has constructed a 27-kilometer natural gas pipeline that runs from Owaza in Ukwa west LGA, Abia State, to the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba.
