Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said Nigeria must begin to move towards a cost-effective tariff model.

According to Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu, there are several straightforward problems with the electrical value chain.

Speaking to reporters, he stated that structural misalignment within the industry, a lack of sustaining liquidity, and inadequate funding for infrastructure all contribute to the complexity of the problems.

Adelabu stated: “Liquidity, funding of investment and infrastructural improvement and lack of compliance with market rules in the sector. If we are able solve these complications, the other issues are simple to resolve.

“Electricity may look abstract to a lot of us, but it is not different from the normal economic goods and services that we consume on a daily basis, because it involves just three segment in the value chain, which is: Production, transportation and delivery.

“But does the value chain operate on a natural economic model? does it?" he asked.
