‘City Of David’ Missing As Family Releases Burial Plan For Wigwe
The funeral ceremonies for Herbert Wigwe, the late group chief executive officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, who passed away on board a helicopter in the United States approximately three weeks ago, will not feature any visible involvement from the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos.
Wigwe, who was an active member of the influential City of David Parish of RCCG, died alongside his wife, first son, a friend and former chairman of NGX, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and crew members, in the air accident.
A grandiose Diamond Jubilee birthday celebration for the parish pastor's wife, Dr. Siju Iluyomade, was arranged a few weeks after he passed away, and it left many speechless.
Since the Wigwes were well-known church members while they were alive, some online users from far and wide expressed their displeasure with the Pastor's family's alleged insensitivity at a time when they believed the church ought to be grieving for them. Others, however, disagreed, clearing the Iluyomades of any wrongdoing and arguing that life must go on.
However, the City of David Parish of RCCG was noticeably absent from the schedule of events made public by the Wigwe family on Wednesday. The church should have been one of the locations for the funeral rites, so many were taken aback by the turn of events.
