Asake Facing Backlash Over His Newly Released Music Video [GALLERY]

Asake's 'Only Me' video sparks outrage with its use of priestly regalia

Nigerian music sensation, Asake, has stirred up controversy regarding religion with his most recent video, “Only Me.” Christian internet users have criticized the well-known performer, claiming that he has disrespected their religious symbols and ideals. He is well-known for his visually stunning videos.

The visual, which was directed by TG Omori, show Asake distributing communion in a scene that looks like it belongs in a holy church while dressed in priestly vestments.

His group of video vixens accentuates the spectacle even more by dressing somberly like altar servers, or people who support priests during religious ceremonies.

The singer's use of priestly regalia and the depiction of sacred elements in a music video that had no apparent Christian connection quickly drew criticism from Christian internet users on social media platforms.

As further proof of Asake's supposed disrespect, some users brought up a scene from his earlier “Bandana” video in which black goats break into a church.

Christian users have voiced their dissatisfaction in discussions on social media platforms following the controversy, especially on [Platform X].

Asake, a Muslim, has come under fire for allegedly singling out Christianity in particular for his graphic narratives. The musician has not yet answered any of the criticism.
