Tinubu violates own directive on cost-cutting measures, flies with over 50 aides to Imo state

A recent order from President Bola Tinubu to reduce the number of people traveling with him both domestically and abroad has been broken.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the delegation he led included more than fifty people when they traveled to the South-east state of Imo on Monday to witness Governor Hope Uzodinma's inauguration for a second and final term.

Mr. Tinubu took the presidential jet to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, with at least 25 others on board for his first trip outside of Abuja since the new policy was unveiled. Before he arrived in the city, at least thirty more officials had to travel.

When Mr. Tinubu announced last week that he and other senior government officials would be traveling with fewer officials, he stipulated that the number of people in his delegations should be limited to twenty for foreign engagements and twenty for local travel.

Many Nigerians who had long been irritated by the system of waste and mismanagement of public funds that characterized state and federal government operations praised the policy greatly.
