According to Peoples Gazette, Jim Obazee, the special investigator assigned to investigate the Central Bank of Nigeria, has returned with recommended charges for a few high-ranking officials from the previous administration, alleging they were involved in a heinous and persistent theft of public funds.
According to Jim Obazee, President Bola Tinubu ought to approve the prosecution of former central bank chief Godwin Emefiele and cabinet secretary Boss Mustapha for their roles in the theft of $6.23 million in cash from the bank's basement in Abuja.

The CBN's directors, deputy directors, assistant director, and branch controllers are among those recommended for trial.
The purported theft was reported to have occurred on February 8, 2023, approximately two weeks prior to the presidential election on February 25. It was included in a long list of allegations of corrupt misappropriation of public funds connected to Mr. Emefiele and others.
