CBN: 1500 Redeployed Staff To Resume Work At Lagos Office

1500 Employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria Will Return to Their Lagos Office on Friday Amid Massive Relocation

The Central Bank of Nigeria has redeployed at least 1500 of its employees from its headquarters to its Lagos office, where they will resume work on Friday.

The administration of President Bola Tinubu demanded on Monday that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) move their corporate headquarters from Abuja to Lagos State in order to increase efficiency and reduce expenses.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this announcement in a press release on Sunday. He urged Nigerians to reject stories that claim the decision was made for political reasons and to give preference to one area over another.

The plan, which has sparked controversy across the nation, is still in the works, according to an apex bank source, and the impacted employees will be returning to work on Friday.

“Yes, the plan is still on and they will resume work by February 2, which is the first week of next month,” an official said.

The most recent event occurs against the backdrop of the new management's decision to shift a few CBN departments to the nation's economic center in order to improve worker safety, boost productivity, and free up space at the head office.
