Alleged N438m Consultancy Fee: 'It's All Good', Says Tunji-ojo As He Walks Out Of Presidential Villa

Tunji-Ojo was summoned to Aso Rock for overpayment of N438m as a consultancy fee to a company linked to the suspended minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu



Due to a connection to Betta Edu, President Bola Tinubu called Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of the interior, to the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, January 9.


Barely a day has passed since his colleague, Dr. Betta Edu, of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, was suspended.


Tunji-Ojo was called to Aso Rock for allegedly paying a consultancy fee totaling N438 million to a business associated with the suspended Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Betta Edu.


The Minister told The Nation that everything was fine as he left the Presidential Villa after approaching for an interview.


According to reports, Edu paid N438.1 million to New Planet Projects Limited, a company owned by the Interior Minister, for consulting services.


But while featuring on Channels TV's Politics Today, on Monday night, Tunji-Ojo said though he founded the company 10 years ago, he resigned from its directorship in 2019 when he contested for the House of Representatives.


The interior minister denied being involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and instead called the report shocking.


He declared: “I have to say this, I saw it and I was shocked because the company in question was a company, where I was the director.


“About five years ago, I had resigned my directorship. Yes, I founded the company 10 years. ago. In 2019 when I got to the House of Representatives, when I won the election precisely, I resigned. I resigned 4th of February 2019 with a Certified True Copy of Corporate Affairs Commission as far back as 2019 to prove this.”
