The Office of the Vice President of Nigeria paid the sum of N10 million to offset hotel bills incurred by guests of Folashade Tinubu-Ojo

According to FIJ, the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria has paid N10 million to cover hotel expenses incurred by guests of President Bola Tinubu's daughter, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.

The payment description reads, “Payment in favor of Fraser Suites, Abuja, Nigeria, for the settlement of hotel accommodation bills for the service rendered to guests of Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo,” and shows that the vice president's office made the payment to Royal Pacific Group on November 17, 2023.

Records of this transaction, which were scraped from the publicly accessible Open Treasury Portal, were discovered by FIJ on the BudgIT Govspend platform.

The national head of Nigerian traders is Folashade. Known as "Lyaloja-General of Nigeria," she does not hold any elected position in the government, despite starting to identify as the Federal Republic of Nigeria's first daughter in May 2023.

Records from June 11, 2019, were discovered by FIJ, showing that multiple MDAs had been paying Royal Pacific Group on a regular basis for guest accommodations. However, this was the first time the company had received payment for a private citizen's guests.

FIJ attempted to get in touch with Ibrahim Hade jia, the President's Deputy Chief of Staff in the Vice President's Office, but we were unable to get his details.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the President's Chief of Staff, was unreachable when FIJ tried to reach him on Monday. As of the time of publication, he had not replied to a text message.
