The Rivers Assembly's Ehie-led four-member faction receives Fubara's budget while the speaker of the Rivers Assembly declares 27 lawmakers' seats vacant

Presenting the 2024 Appropriations Bill before the House of Assembly, led by the Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison, is Governor Siminalayi Fubara at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The speaker claims that there won't be a sitting on the subject because, upon completing the process of transferring authority to the deputy governor, he will issue a press release.

According to the Speaker's statement, Aiyedatiwa will now assume the governor's responsibilities in an acting capacity until a formal declaration to the contrary is made.

The Speaker had ruled that all 27 of the lawmakers' seats were vacant prior to Fubara's arrival, in accordance with sections 109 (1) and (2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, regarding the defection of lawmakers.

According to rumors, Adolphus Timothy Orubi-enimigha, the representative for the OPobo/Nkoro State Constituency, was chosen to lead the assembly led by Edison Ehie.

The Rivers State Government House entrance is reportedly under strict security this morning while the budget is being presented.
