Akeredolu Starts A Second Medical Leave And Transfers Control To Deputy
Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is set to commence another medical leave on Wednesday, 13 December
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has started a new medical leave of absence.
The medical leave was scheduled to start on Wednesday, December 13, in response to an earlier medical procedure.
According to a statement released by Richard Olatunde, his chief press secretary, the governor would put his health first and make sure he fully recovered before returning to his official duties.
It stated that the House of Assembly would receive a formal letter about the medical leave and a notice officially transferring power in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.
The statement read: “In the absence of Governor Akeredolu, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will assume the responsibilities of the Governor in acting capacity.
“Governor Akeredolu expresses his gratitude for the unwavering support and affection of the people of Ondo State. He assures them that his administration remains committed to the path of progress and prosperity for the people.
“As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a widely respected Nigerian, Governor Akeredolu has consistently delegated power to his deputy during his annual vacations. This practice was observed on April 1, 2021, April 1, 2022, April 3, 2023, and July 10, 2023, when he embarked on previous vacations.”
