A Couple Have Been Abducted By Kidnappers

Kidnappers have abducted a couple in the Alfa area of Igbogbo in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State

A couple has been abducted by daredevil kidnappers in the Alfa neighborhood of Igbogbo in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.

It was reported that on Thursday night, the couple was stopped by armed individuals who fired intermittent shots into the air to frighten nearby residents and other drivers.

In accordance with Adisa Tobias, a community member, “The community was thrown into panic when gunshots rented the air continuously. When the area became a bit calm, we went to investigate what had happened. We only discovered a child in the vehicle while the parents had been taken away. When we tried to ask the child about its parents, it pointed a hand to the bush, saying some people took them away.”

Adisa went on to explain that before the police arrived on the scene and started searching the woods and swamp for the couple, the gunmen had fled to the swamp with them.

When reporters visited the community, a resident who spoke anonymously stated he wasn't sure if the kidnappers managed to escape with the couple by crossing the swamp.

He continued by saying that the abductors may have arrived in a car parked at the opposite end of the street, where they swiftly moved the couple into and then left.

The police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, he noted, adding that if they had been in the woods, they probably would have been apprehended.

But some Igbe residents and a member of the Celestial Church of Christ who had a swimming pool by the water's edge were taken into custody by the authorities.

According to Vanguard, “All efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Commander, SP Benjamin Hundeyin to comment on the issue were abortive as calls made to his telephone were unanswered; he also did not respond to text messages sent to his telephone.”
