FCT Will Roll Out Buses, Taxis, Ban 'Keke NAPEP' — Wike
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced that the Keke operation will be discontinued by his administration
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has said that his administration is set to stop the operation of tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep in some areas in Abuja
According to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, his administration plans to discontinue the tricycle, sometimes referred to as Keke Napep in some parts of Abuja.
The Minister further pledged that there would be no Keke Napep operations in Asokoro and Maitama, and that the threat of one-chance would soon end in the capital of Nigeria.
In order to address the issue of transportation and the criminal activity of one-chance in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike stated that the FCDA will be implementing buses and levies in the near future.
“These buses and taxis will ply all the routes in Asokoro and Maitama. We are kicking out Keke Napep at least in these areas. Some of these Keke Napep are agents of criminals,” Wike said.
The former Governor of Rivers State added that “if we have the buses, people will prefer to come from their areas and come to work and go back.”
The minister urged the people to assist the FCDA by paying their taxes while speaking to the Federal Capital Territory’s Estate Developers and Residents' Associations. “It is painful but it's an inconvenience that we must face,” Wike said.
