New LASTMA Boss Gives Personnel Civility And Empathy Advice
Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, over the weekend, advised all personnel of the Agency to be civil, demonstrate empathy and shun corruption in whatever guise while discharging their statutory duties on the roads
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) recently appointed Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan as Acting General Manager. Over the weekend, Mr. Olalekan gave all Agency employees advice on how to carry out their official duties on the roads while remaining courteous, showing empathy, and avoiding corruption in any form.
It is a new dawn for traffic management in the State, as Mr. Oki stressed, as the Agency would go all out to ensure that commuters have a seamless experience traveling across the State. Mr. Oki gave the advice while speaking to Lastma Comptrollers, Commander, and Zebras about his new vision and mission for the Agency at its Oshodi Headquarters.
He urged them to be civil when dealing with traffic offenders and emphasized that his administration would not tolerate any sort of corruption or bribery by any official.
“The public expects a corrupt-free LASTMA that will not collect bribes, therefore, you should be respectful and courteous even when you are apprehending an offender. Motorists want LASTMA that is decent and neat, we won't tolerate laziness and lateness of our officers to their various duty posts,” he said.
While reiterating the government's commitment to the security, well-being, and rights of employees on the job, Mr. Oki cautioned drivers of commercial buses to always abide by the traffic laws outlined in the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018 (as amended).
The Director of Operations, Mr. Peter Gbejemede, responded on behalf of the LASTMA staff, welcoming the new Acting General Manager and assuring him of their cooperation, support, and allegiance.
