LASU Sacks Student Affairs Dean For Alleged Certificate Racketeering
Dean of Student Affairs of LASU is fired because to certificate racketeering
Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko was fired from his role as Dean of Student Affairs at Lagos State University (LASU) on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in response to accusations of certificate racketeering.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by spokesperson Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the administration of LASU stated that it had been made aware of recent rumors about purported "Certificate Racketeering" and a "sting operation" at the school.
According to Thomas-Onashile, it has been proven that the institution's administration swiftly notified the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions and other general law enforcement authorities of the initial claims.
The spokesman stated that although the authorities have not yet wrapped up their inquiries, Lagos State University administration takes these kinds of issues seriously.
Thomas-Onashile stated that the investigations into the claims by the university will be finished by the end of 2023.
"Consistently with applicable law, the outcome of the inquiry will be published and appropriate action will be taken," she said.
Thomas-Onashile also said that for emphasis, there has been no "cover-up" and there will be no "cover-up".
In the interim, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, has been named the acting Dean of Student Affairs to replace Olumoko, who was fired.
