Bayesal State Gubernatorial Election: PDP’s Diri Wins Bayelsa Governor Election
Governor Douye Diri was proclaimed the victor of the Bayelsa governorship race after receiving 175,196 votes
INEC has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial Candidate of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri the winner of the election scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023.
The results of the election were declared by Prof. Faruq Kuta, the state's Returning Officer, on Monday afternoon, November 13.
The incumbent governor garnered 175,196 votes overall after winning six of the state's eight local government areas (LGAS); Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and his closest rival, received votes from only two LGAS.
Among the LGAs are Southern Ijaw, Nembe, Ekeremor, Brass, Ogbia, Yenegoa, Sagbama, and Kolokuma/Opokuma.
