Member of the Eti Osa Rep, Thaddeus Attah of Labour Party is reinstated by the appeal court, and Banky W loses

The Eti Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State is represented by Thaddeus Atta, the candidate of the Labour Party, who was legitimately elected to the House of Representatives. This decision was made by the Appeal Court.

Atta's election victory had been declared void by the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal prior to this decision. In 33 polling places where elections were not held, the tribunal directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold a second election within ninety-days.

On Tuesday, however, the Appeal Court declared that the elections were definitive and reversed the tribunal's order.

Known by his stage name Bankole Wellington, or Banky W, a well-known Nigerian singer and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who finished second in the February 2023 election, was engaged in a court dispute with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro.

Banky W and Obanikoro had both submitted petitions challenging the election outcomes.
