MOHBAD'S DEATH: 'He Left Marlian Records With No Account' - Mohbad's Wife Wunmi's

In her testimony, Wunmi Aloba, the late Mohbad's wife, described to the court how Mohbad joined Marlian Records and the circumstances surrounding his split from the label.

Wunmi disclosed that she first met Mohbad in secondary (High) school. At the time, Mohbad was also a rapper, in addition to her. Mohbad successfully accepted and won a widely accepted social media challenge initiated by BaddyOsha. Therefore, he was already succeeding on his own before joining Marlian Records.

"One day he told me that Naira Marley sent him a message on Instagram to come see him. I advised him to only feature Naira Marley on one song, and not sign a record deal with him but Mohbad said signing will help his career," Wunmi testified.

Wunmi mentioned that before Mohbad began to talk about Naira Marley and that he was popular at the time, she was unaware of him. However, when they refused to let Mohbad replace his manager, Tunde, who happens to be Naira Marley's cousin, things began to go south.

He wasn't accomplishing anything, so Mohbad wanted to change him. Naira Marley asserted that they will select his manager, anyway.

"He started receiving different threats from his oppressor and by 2022, when he left the label, he wasn't stable again. He left with zero account. He didn't have anything to start again and he started struggling to survive. Bella Shmurda fed us for three months when the issue happened as things were hard," Wunmi said.

She disclosed to the court the many tactics used by 'Mohabd's oppressors' to defame him.

She mentioned that, with the exception of Olajide and Bella Shmurda, Mohbad attempted to contact several artists, but they never replied because they didn't want to be associated with him. She said that he was kept in hiding until his death by his "oppressors," who paid anyone to do so. He was harmed, and lived in fear till he died.

Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, in a contentious manner, and was buried at Ikorodu the next day.
