Appeal Court Validates Sanwo-Olu's Gubernatorial Of Lagosu
The judgement was delivered by a three-man panel - Justice Yargata Nimpa, Justice Samuel Bola, and Justice Paul Bassey
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Olajide Adediran filed an appeal contesting Babajide Sanwo-Olu's legitimacy as the state's legitimate winner of the March 18, 2023, governorship election, but the State and National Assembly Appeal Court in Lagos State dismissed the case.
The three-member panel unanimously upheld the ruling of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which had declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu the winner on September 25, 2023.
It was decided that the appellants' claims against Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, of falsification and non-qualification were unfounded.
The judges decided as follows: "Even though they were all pre-election matters, the appellants (PDP and Adeniran) still failed to prove them. The appellants came empty-handed and left empty-handed. They merely enjoyed their day in court. Their petition is dismissed."
