The court of appeal in Abuja has affirmed Inuwa Yahaya's re-election as Gombe state governor

The Gombe State Governorship Election Tribunal's decision to reject the People's Democratic Party's petition contesting the All Progressives Congress governor Muhammadu Yahaya's reelection was upheld by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

On Thursday, November 23, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld Inuwa Yahaya's election as the governor of Gombe state.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the APC was declared the victor of the governor's race on March 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 342,821 votes.

According to reports, the lower court denied the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) and its candidate Mohammed Barde's appeal challenging the election of All Progressives Congress (APC) state governor Yahaya.

The case was dismissed by the panel led by Justice S.B. Belgore due to its lack of merit.

Barde said in the appeal that several anomalies, including vote buying, marred the election that declared Governor Inuwa the victor.

Nevertheless, the tribunal determined that the petitioners had not provided sufficient evidence to support their allegations of electoral malpractices, and as a result, the case was dismissed.
