Appeal Court Affirms Abdullahi Sule As Nasarawa State Governor
Appeal Court upholds Abdullahi Sule's election as governor of Nasarawa, setting aside the tribunal's ruling
The Court of Appeal overturns the Tribunal's decision, which had declared the PDP the winner, and returns Nasarawa Governor Sule (APC) as the victor
The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal's October 2 decision to remove All Progressives Congress (APC) governor Abdullahi Sule was overturned by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, David Ombugadu, filed a petition, challenging the tribunal's jurisdiction to hear the case. A three-member panel of the court held that the tribunal erred in declining to determine the legal issues raised in the objection raised by the APC and Sule, as well as the petition's competence.
The PDP and Ombugadu petitioners at the tribunal, according to the court, were unable to substantiate their claims of excessive voting and disregard for the Electoral Act.
