Abia Refutes Spending N927 Million For The Governor's Meals
The Abia State Government refutes Reports That N927 Million Was Spent on Governor Otti's Meals and Welfare Benefits
The Abia State Government has denied recent allegations making the rounds on the internet that it gave Governor Alex Otti a whopping N927 million over the course of three months for meals, welfare benefits, and other associated costs.
SaharaReporters published a purported budget performance document that indicated the Otti-led administration spent N223,389,889.84 on meals and refreshments between July and September 2023, and N305,400,000.00 on honoraria and sitting allowances for government officials.
Social media users have been divided by the disclosures, with many expressing shock at the stated costs and doubting the openness of such cash transfers.
The Special Advisor to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, refuted these accusations, saying that the claims were untrue.
Ekeoma promised to respond to the viral report with promptness and in-depth detail.
“The report is incorrect; there was nothing like that, and we will do an official response to that,” Ekeoma affirmed.
